Announcing the Artist Rendezvous!
Celebrating the Creative Act
I’ve been busy working on a new project.
Introducing the Artist Rendezvous!
The Artist Rendezvous includes three components: (1) podcast, (2) social media content, including mini interviews and out loud contemplation of the creative process, and (3) events.
The genesis of this project began with an idea to start a podcast interviewing creative entrepreneurs and artists. This is my third podcast, with Wild River and Moonrise Human Design being the first two. Unlike its predecessors, the Artist Rendezvous is not overtly spiritual or mystical in nature. Rather, it is an exploration and celebration of the creative act. It explores what creativity means, why it is valuable, and the many joys and challenges of pursuing creative projects.
About the Artist Rendezvous
Many people get struck by inspiration and have an idea of something they would like to create, whether it is an album, a painting, a restaurant, or a store, but few people actually invest the time, energy, money, and resources to bring that idea to life. To do so is courageous and valuable. Our lives become special because people acted on their inspiration and shared their creative energy with us, and we are enriched beyond measure as a result. The Artist Rendezvous is my way of understanding, exploring, and sharing about this process - from inspiration through struggle to creating and sharing.
In the Artist Rendezvous podcast, I interview creative entrepreneurs and artists - think photographer, art collector, actress, restaurateur, music venue owner, shop owners - about the inspiration behind what they have created, and the challenges and obstacles they faced in bringing their ideas to life. I plan to start with one season, filmed professionally on video, with 10-12 episodes. The podcast will come out in November.
The podcast aims to tell the story of inspiration, creation, and risk. I hope that listeners will be encouraged to take steps towards their ideas, expand their sense of possibility, learn practical guidance, and get excited to support the creatives in their lives.
The social media (find the Artist Rendezvous on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube) explores many of the same themes. I am sharing mini-interviews of creatives I encounter in my everyday life, such as a local musician I love watching or an art gallery owner I meet. I share tidbits and insights from the world’s most famous artists in a weekly series called The Artist Spotlight. I also share prompts to help you on your own creative journey and lessons I am learning along the way.
I hope the social media content finds people who are interested in creativity but don’t know where to start, and those on the creative path who appreciate encouragement. I feel that every creative needs constant reminders and encouragement to keep doing and sharing their work, as our society doesn’t always value creativity and artistic expression. My intention is that the AR content will serve as encouragement.
Lastly, I am planning some events, first in Austin, Texas, but hopefully elsewhere in the future! I am gathering artists and community for a night of fun, expression, and connection. Art is not meant to just live online–it needs to be experienced in person, alongside others who value it.
Who is this for?
This is for creative-curious people who don’t currently feel very connected to their creativity but are interested in exploring it, as well as practicing creatives, who currently enjoy creating and have established specific projects, but benefit from support in furthering and expanding their process.
What problem does this podcast solve for my audience:
Helps people feel less alone in their creative journey
Normalizes doubt, fear, and slow progress in the creative process
Builds creative confidence through real-life stories
Inspires listeners to start creating again or try something new
Broadens the definition of creativity beyond traditional art
Dismantles fear around taking creative risks or starting a creative business
Offers insight and perspective through lived experiences—not just success stories
Encourages appreciation of everyday artistry in local environments
Supports the desire to create more and consume less
Strengthens connection to community and place through storytelling
Speaks to the longing to live a meaningful, expressive, creative life
Why am I doing this?
I’m doing this because these are the conversations I want to have. I want to learn about what people around me are creating. Hearing their stories helps me stay connected to my creative drive and inspires me to take the next step. Creating gives my life purpose, and this podcast is one way I can focus and develop my creative energy.
Producing a podcast and making content is also really fun. I love talking to people and learning about new things. I really enjoy being in a studio and being on camera. I have podcasted for years and have always loved it. One of my favorite activities is conversing, so this project is so enjoyable.
I want to build a network of inspired people. I want to be friends with people doing interesting, creative things, and I want them as mentors. A great way to meet more creative people is to create a project where, by definition, I have to introduce myself to creatives and invite them to talk to me. One day, I might want to open a brick-and-mortar, for example. Before starting this podcast, I didn’t have anyone who has done this. Now, I already know several people I could call and get some guidance from.
Already, this project is encouraging me to engage with Austin in a much more meaningful way. It’s helping me put myself out there, meet people I might not otherwise cross paths with, and have genuinely exciting conversations and connections. It pushes me to explore new places, say yes more often, and be an active participant in the city.
The Vision
Success, at a minimum, looks like publishing a first season that I can be proud of. I hope to put out quality, engaging content. I will honor the stories by telling them well. It also looks like learning about cool things around me, and meeting new people that inspire me.
Hopefully, I can grow the podcast through an effective marketing strategy. I’m not sure if others will be interested in this project, or the best way to engage people, but I will be putting it out there and experimenting. I want this podcast to find people who benefit from it, feel inspired by it, take a forward step in their creativity, and support the businesses and creators featured on the podcast. I would love it if the guests felt like they got a cool opportunity or their story touched someone through the podcast.
On a material level, I hope to produce a season 2, and more seasons after that! That costs money, so having some sort of financial support that paid for the podcast, like a local sponsorship, is essential.
The ultimate dream would be to continue to build out and develop the Artist Rendezvous at a much higher scale, involving more complex production, onsite filming, and interviewing high profile creatives, while continuing to showcase talented creatives who don’t yet have a large audience. I would love to have different seasons featuring different cities, such as New Orleans, New York City, Mexico City, Amsterdam, Singapore, etc. featuring creatives in each place. It would be amazing to do episodes in a Anthony Boudain-style tv show.
I would also love to collaborate with local businesses and creative spaces to host events in different cities, including music festivals, art workshops, art fairs, and dinners.
How you can follow along
This is a separate endeavor from Wild River, my coaching practice and platform to teach about emotional and spiritual health. However, if this interests you, follow along! Follow my Instagram and TikTok, join my newsletter, and watch the podcast when it comes out in November. If you see things you like, engage, comment, and share! This project will only continue with the support of those who value it.
